Meester | Sauvignon Blanc

Platter’s Wine Guide refers to Bartho Eksteen as Monsieur Sauvignon Blanc. Neil Pendock calls him the Sage of Sauvignon.

Succulent green herb and melon ripeness, fabulous minerality, terroir-driven Upper Hemel-en-Aarde classiness. Complex, with a full mid-palate due to the incorporation of a tiny portion of wooded Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Description

Sommelier note: Creamy white mussel pancakes. Charred prawns with salt, ground black pepper and fresh lime.

Winemakers note: We are ambassadors for the promotion of the longevity of Sauvignon Blanc and would like to express these characteristics in our MEESTER. This wine spends 10 months on its lees prior to bottling. The oily, lanolin character of Semillon to strengthen the mid pallet in years when it might be required is always an option, but in very small percentages. This practice as well as the richness of the lees contact and the ageing will not only tame the acidity but will also deliver a well structured wine with layers of green an ripe fruit. A cool climate is essential to this style.
