Bartho won the prestigious General Smuts Trophy, which is awarded to the best single wine of a specific year in South Africa. It is a testimony to our great reds and winning the trophy motivated him to craft this exciting wine. Pick of the crop fruit, minimal interference with technology and mechanization and the best French oak barrel for maturation.
This wine is extremely limited, with an annual production of 300 bottles. Bartho and Pieter Willem selected the best barrel of red wine in the cellar for this release.
The vintage will always determine the composition of the wine blend and will always have a strong Rhône influence with Syrah, Mourvédre, Grenache and Viognier to choose from.
